Spiritual Cinema Night ~
Siddhartha; August 8th, 7-9 PM. Adopted from the novel from Herman Hesse and filmed in a breathtaking part of Northern India, Siddhartha tells the story of a young man who seeks spiritual salvation but follows the path to material wealth instead. Soon, he realizes his life is empty and meaningless. Abandoning his riches, he resumes his search for spiritual well-being, with fascinating results.

Insight Meditation
With Trina Schartz, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 6-7 PM. Vipassana or vipasyana in Sanskrit means "insight" into the impermanent nature or anicca of mind and body. Vipassana is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation, discovered by Gautama Buddha 2500 years ago. It is a way of self-transformation through self-observation and introspection. It focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body, which can be experienced directly by disciplined attention to the physical sensations that form the life of the body, and that continuously interconnect and condition the life of the mind. Vipassana meditation is often referred to by Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike simply as "insight meditation". While it is a type of Buddhist meditation as taught by the Buddha, it is essentially non-sectarian in character and has universal application.
